Thanks to the generous support of kind sponsors, productive developments in construction have flourished at the organization's site, bringing about significant progress and improvements.
After purchasing a 100m2 property we began planning our developments.
First things first, we needed to establish electricity and fresh drinking water. The construction of a brand-new electrical transformer now provides power to our buildings and the neighbouring community. Solar power operates as the backup system for the Organization buildings. Two borehole wells were drilled on the property, one was given to the close community to use at their disposal and the other supplies water to the project dwellings via the installation of a water pump and 5000l water tank system.

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of two remarkable buildings: The youth learning center and the Organization's home base. The learning center stands as a testament to our commitment to providing a nurturing educational environment. The home base serves as a multifunctional space, allowing us to warmly welcome and accommodate visitors and program volunteers. A beautifully hand crafted thatch lapa was constructed to offer a shaded space on warmer days.

Food security in agriculture is one of the Organization's main focus areas for sustainable farming.
Growing food in small Malawian villages is traditionally passed down through the women as most of the men are away for work. The main source of food crops grown are maize, rice, cassava, legumes, and sweet potato.
At Chituka Youth Organization we carry the vision to assist and expand the local food production and introduce new ideas and sustainable methods of agricultural and permaculture farming in order to conserve the natural environment. This promotes the creation of small business opportunities and encourages local employment, and ultimately helps to uplift the community.

Buzzing Bees
One of our earlier Agricultural developments was to learn the art of beekeeping so that we could harvest and sell honey to the community. The earnings come back to the youth and are set aside towards excursion expenses. We have 10 active hives that several youth, who share an interest in bee keeping, are involved in maintaining.
Proper protective gear is always worn when handling the bees!
This continues to serve as a great educational opportunity for the children and creates a symbiotic system with nature and humans.
